Unsolicited
Posted @ 9:46am
In this crazy blogging world, that I am somehow stuck being labeled with, theres a somewhat unspoken battle for supremacy. Whether most like to admit it or not (and before someone takes this personally and starts crying to me, I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT ALL OF YOU!) the bloggers of the world yearn to be on top. Everyone wants to be the best, and while some prefer to have a whole "community" aspect about it, and actually help others be the best they can be, others like to dominate, and piss upon the smaller sites of the world.
I'll admit, while I hate being grouped in with bloggers, that's the easiest label for me. Bloggers are the people sending me new readers, and they are the ones making this site stronger with each passing day. However, if I'm going to be labeled as a blogger, then I will have to say, that I am one of those who wants to dominate, and be on top, even if that means mowing a few people down. I'm not even making a profit off this site, and that's my mentality.
There are thousands of blogs, websites, and gossip pages that get more traffic in a day, than I do in a month. Yet, I can visit 85% if those sites, and know that this one would crush them in a heads up competition. They get more people because they are the ones running around begging for those links, getting higher technorati authorities, riding those trains, going viral, or whatever the fuck it is, which is fine, that's just not for me. So I carry pride with me, each passing day, because I know every link I get, is from someone who likes my work. Anyone who has a link from me at the bottom of this page should feel the same way. I don't hand the shit out like candy.
My Technorati authority is 8! I have no Google Page Rank, but 30% of my new readers come from Google.
I don't solicit for links. I want people to read my site....but I don't want someone pluggin me, if they have no respect for my work.
So when I open my stat counter, and I see a new referral from a site I've never read, run by a person I've never talked to, someone who didn't rush to me saying they liked me, or that they linked me, they just did it. That makes it worth it for me.
I want to thank the lovely gal at Nothing To Show But This Brand New Tatoo, for hooking me up, without asking for a thing in return.
I respect that!
